Screenshotmachine is a service that allows users to capture screenshots of web pages or websites. It’s a tool commonly used for various purposes, including website testing, website monitoring, and documentation.
Here’s how such a service typically works:
- URL Input: Users provide the URL of the webpage they want to capture.
- Capture Process: The service accesses the specified webpage and takes a screenshot of it.
- Options: Users might have options to customize the capture, such as specifying the viewport size, capture type (full page or specific area), image format, and more.
- Screenshot Generation: The service then generates the screenshot based on the provided parameters.
- Downloading: Users can usually download the captured screenshot in their desired format (e.g., PNG, JPEG).
- Storage: Some services may offer cloud storage or hosting for the captured screenshots.
Specific features and capabilities of Screenshotmachine can change over time, so it’s a good idea to visit their website or check for the latest information if you’re looking for specific details about their current offerings or if there have been any developments or changes in their service since my last knowledge update.
Additionally, keep in mind that there are many similar screenshot capture services available online, including our Screenshot API, so you may want to explore different options to find the one that best suits your needs.
Screenshotmachine Pricing
As you can see from the screenshot above, screenshotmachine pricing page consist of 4 tiers.
- Free tier with 100 screenshots per month
- €9 per month with 2,500 screenshots per month
- €59 per month with 20,000 screenshots per month
- €99 per month with 50,000 screenshots per month
Screenshot API and Web to PDF API
Screenshotmachine offers two services, two APIs that you can use. Once you upgrade, you can make API requests to their Website Screenshot API, or to their Website to PDF API. The company behind these APIs is a European company Devtica s.r.o., so expect some VAT charges if you are an individual (not a registered company) in the EU.
They have been around since 2012, at least that’s what their footer states. It seems they have been in business since 2011.
We can learn that by making a Whois API request, and find out the date of domain name registration.
We can also check the Wayback Machine for a screenshot from around that time. I did just that and found a snapshot of the website from March 2012 (with a year 2011 in the footer).
Screenshotmachine alternative
There are many Screenshotmachine alternatives, which unlike Screenshotmachine stopped working after a few years. Screenshotmachine has been around for more than a decade. However I did not test the quality of the service.
In the following weeks I will go through several Screenshotmachine alternatives and list them here.
